When the pueblo of Cirauqui hove into view, it was easy to imagine the sense of relief an ancient peregrino might have felt at the prospect of food, security, and a place to sleep.

Leaving the pueblo of Cirauqui, I walked a well-preserved section of Roman road.
I passed numerous groves of olives and almonds. Note the modern aqueduct at far right.
